Christopher Dutton

Chris Dutton is an aquatic ecologist who studies biogeochemical processes in river ecosystems. His research has used sediment fingerprinting to track sediment generation in river basins, development of low-cost sensor arrays to obtain high-resolution data onwater quantity and quality, and in situ and small- and large-scale experimental approaches to study microbial influences on biogeochemical cycling. Chris began working in the Mara River Basin in 2008 as a Project Coordinator for a USAID-funded project with Global Water for Sustainability. He received his MS from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and is currently pursuing his PhD, studying the influence of hippos on biogeochemical cycling and hypoxic flood events in the Mara River.
